Fall of 2011 the Duford clan gathered in San Francisco to celebrate a wedding in the family. A group of us wandered down the street after a rehearsal gathering to see the magnificent Palace lit up at night. As we entered the huge rotunda we were witness to a happening ...that evidently happens every week around midnight. We were descended upon by about 50 people on rollerblades gliding about and doing tricks that both amazed us and made us laugh hysterically as there were a few major showboats in the "gang". The day after the wedding I meandered down to enjoy the daytime views and to do a plein air watercolor to help me remember the magic of the place. It was built in 1915 as an attraction for the Panama Pacific International Exposition and was never meant to be a permanent fixture. But here it is in all it's grandeur for us to enjoy 98 years later! Thank you, San Francisco, and thank you to Brian and Kendel for giving us a reason to experience this amazing city again. Adieu art lovers...till tomorrow!
