I'm sitting here at the computer in my art studio gazing out my west facing windows at this fabulous view and contemplating today's missive. According to the dictionary the word missive refers to the antiquated written word on paper. Well, I'm not going to mail this out so this will have to do! The far away Gore Range depicted is preceded by a wall of cottonwoods and evergreens that line the Blue River that flows through our valley. The next layer of the landscape, on both sides of the river is populated by willow shrubbery. Our fall colors, in the high country, consists mainly of golds, yellows and greens with the occasional smattering of oranges and reds. Nothing like the show in other parts of our country where hardwoods grow, but beautiful nonetheless. Fall also brings hunters armed with permits to thin the herds of deer and elk... not a good time to go hiking unless you cover yourself with neon orange! Enjoy your day, fortunately huntings season is a few months off and it's safe to explore our great outdoors.
